ITINERARY

Day One – Sunday – Launceston, Hobart, Port Arthur – L

After leaving Launceston, drive the Heritage Highway though the historic Midland towns of Ross (famous for its carved stone bridge) and Oatlands (with many fine colonial sandstone buildings). Arrive in Hobart and drive to the top of Mt Wellington (1270m) for spectacular views in all directions. After a short drive in the city, head to the Tasman Peninsula for more spectacular scenery and views of Eaglehawk Neck from the lookout. Next, see nature’s wonders – the Blow Hole, Tasman Arch and Devil’s Kitchen. Overnight Port Arthur

Day Two – Monday – Port Arthur, East Coast, Bicheno – B/L

Visit Port Arthur Historical Site for a guided walking tour, leave the Tasman Peninsula for the East Coast. Next is Swansea – a beautiful East Coast town. Stop for wine tasting before arriving at Freycinet National Park for a one hour return walk to view famous Wineglass Bay from the Wineglass Bay Lookout. The tour makes a brief stop at Freycinet Marine Farm to replace lost calories (optional!) with a taste of freshly picked oysters and steamed mussels (own expense). Arrive in Bicheno to see the amazing Blow Hole.

An evening penguin tour is also available (own expense). Overnight Bicheno

Day Three – Tuesday – Bicheno, St Helens, Launceston – B/L

Visit a multi-award winning East Coast wildlife park before heading to St Helens to see Peron Sand Dunes with their Sahara-like feel and great coastal views. See the granite-rock coastline of the Bay of Fires and one of Tasmania’s best beaches at Binalong Bay. Drive toward Launceston via Scottsdale. On the way, see magnificent St Columba Falls (90m), carved trees at Legerwood. The tour concludes in Launceston CBD.
